Adam + Alison // Ankeny Wedding 7.14.18
I first met Alison at a coffee shop here in Des Moines, and I knew their wedding day was going to be fun, but I underestimated it! She was so calm and collected, yet upbeat and SO friendly. I could tell she was SO in love with Adam, that he makes her heart soar. I was thrilled when they decided to move forward with me as their wedding photographer! Thanks to crazy, unpredictable Iowa weather, their engagement session had to be rescheduled multiple times.. I had to wait a little longer to see them together, to see how their 'love blooms'... but it was worth the wait! I knew from that day on that their wedding would be amazing, just seeing how she looked at Adam so adoringly and how she could make his face light up was proof. Their wedding day rolled around last weekend and everything was SO PERFECT. I arrived to see Alison already finished with hair and makeup-- in her comfy 'pre-dress' clothes, she was already stunning, I knew once she put her dress on she would be one of the most beautiful brides that I've ever seen!
After a little bit of effort putting his boutonniere on Adam was ready to see his bride. We snuck outside to get set up for the first look. With Adam in position, his back to Alison, emotions were high! As she slowly approached from behind, I watched a smile spread across Adam's face-- she's the one for him, and he was about to see her on one of the most important days of their life. After their sweet first look, we took pictures of the two of them, then bridal party pictures, and family photos. Their ceremony was a beautiful full Mass, with candles being lit by their mothers, scripture reading from family, a unity candle, wise words from the priest, and ended with communion.
After the ceremony was finished, Adam and Alison dismissed their guests and spent some time talking and thanking everyone for coming, then the bridal party left on a party bus! After a quick stop for some necessities (haha!), we drove to a couple sweet spots in Ankeny for bridal party pictures. Their bridal party was so energetic and fun, and we wrapped up pictures to head to the Courtyard Marriott for the reception... though there may have been a quick stop for some pizza!
Their reception is one that I will never forget. Sure, dinner was spectacular (most wedding dinners are!), and they did cake cutting and the first dances and bouquet/garter toss type stuff... but what I was SOOOOOO stoked about was ALL the guests DANCING! Never have I experienced such energy on the dance floor, and that was the first time I'd ever seen a dance floor overflowing. With special dances with family and friends, and the best kind of partying, Adam and Alison's wedding day so joyfully came to an end. The love they have for each other and the love their family has for them overflowed, and it was such an honor to be their wedding photographer!
Here are some of my favorites from their wedding day! <3
