Gorgeous Small Town Iowa Wedding // Caleb + Claire 7.13.19

I LOVE THIS COUPLE. Our first chat was over the phone as they live out of state, but they instantly made me feel so loved and comfortable! Their story is so unique, and I’m so thankful I was able to witness their wedding day. Caleb grew up in Kenya before moving to Canada when he started high school. Claire studied abroad for a semester and her roommate became friends with Caleb. At the end of the semester, Caleb and Claire became friends, but as time passed, they grew closer and closer. Caleb and Claire LOVE to travel and go on adventures.. he proposed to her in Tanzania! Their wedding is full of a beautiful African heritage in honor of their story.

Everything about Caleb and Claire’s day ran so smooth! When I arrived, the girls were all hanging out and getting ready. Claire’s momma was radiant with pride towards her daughter and a deep thankfulness for the special love Caleb and Claire share! The girls were so relaxed and seemingly stress free as they put on their makeup and opened gifts from the bride. Just before Claire was helped into her dress by her mom, her bridesmaids spent a few minutes praying over her and their marriage— this was by far one of my favorite moments of the day!

Claire was absolutely radiant as she stepped into her dress, and I was so stoked for the moment she’d walk down the aisle to her groom. Claire shared a first look with her bridesmaids and her dad before her and Caleb prayed together back-to-back, honoring tradition while still taking a moment to calm their nerves and give their day (and their marriage) over to the One who brought them together.

After taking some separate bridal party pictures, the bridal party went back inside to freshen up for the ceremony. Guests began streaming in and the music commenced. One by one, the bridal party made their way in before everyone stood. Claire was walked in by her dad, and Caleb’s facial expression was full of joy. Their ceremony was so sweet—complete with worship and prayer, and a foot washing ceremony for Caleb and Claire to start their marriage by serving one another.

After their marriage was sealed with a kiss, Caleb and Claire dismissed their guests. Everyone gathered outside to send the sweet pair off through a cloud of bubbles in a stellar old car! We finished up pictures before making our way to Newton for the travel-themed reception. Their wedding day was so fun, their bridal party was so sweet, and I could not be more thrilled for this newly married couple.
