Romantic Colorado Destination Wedding // Jeffrey + Kelsey 2.9.19

My 2019 wedding season kicked off with the most incredible couple, Jeffrey and Kelsey. I met these two sweet people 14 months ago when I took their engagement photos on the campus of Iowa State University. I had so much fun hanging out with them that day, but had no idea they would later ask me to be their wedding photographer. I’m so glad they did, I’ve LOVED getting to know them these past 14 months.

Jeffrey and Kelsey got married Saturday at Lionscrest Manor— a jaw-dropping venue just up the meandering mountain road in Lyons, Colorado. Kelsey was hoping for snow— though I know snow is beautiful, I think she’s a bit crazy! ;) A few days before their wedding, it snowed, but on their day it was 40 degrees, which just happened to be the perfect temperature to keep guests warm(ish) without the snow melting completely away. It could not have been a more gorgeous day for a wedding!

At 2pm, everybody arrived to finish preparing for the day. The girls headed upstairs to the bridal suite to touch up their makeup and get dressed while the guys were in a little room leading out to the reception hall. With the help of his dad putting on the pesky bowtie, Jeffrey finished getting ready looking out on the lawn where he would shortly marry the love of his life. In the bridal suite in front of a gorgeous bay window, Kelsey’s momma helped her button up her elegant lacy dress.

Jeffrey and Kelsey’s closest friends and family arrived and, with a warm cup of hot chocolate in hand, made their way to the back lawn overlooking the mountains and waited expectantly for the ceremony to start. Jeffrey and Jim (Kelsey’s step dad officiating the ceremony) walked up the short aisle to the front and turned to watch as their bridal party began entering two by two, walking down stone steps leading out onto the lawn. Kelsey’s ADORABLE nephew almost stole the show when he walked the ring box down the aisle and handed it to Jeffrey, then all the guests stood up to witness as Kelsey and her dad walked into sight. Jeffrey’s face was beaming and proud as he watched his gorgeous bride walk down the aisle. After a short ceremony sealing their marriage with a kiss, the rest of their day went so quickly!

Portraits with the mountains in the background (a midwest wedding photographer’s dream! haha) were followed by a fun entrance down to the reception. After a delicious dinner (and hilarious toasts), the DJ led Kelsey and Jeffrey to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife, and then for a sweet dance between Jeffrey and his momma, and Kelsey and her dad. Before all the crazy fun party dancing began, Jeffrey and Kelsey charmed their guests with the shoe game. Spirits were high after that and their guests danced the night away, celebrating the sweet love that Jeffrey and Kelsey share.

Their wedding was an opportunity of a lifetime for a midwest wedding photographer, and I’m honored that I was there to celebrate with them and capture all the joy. Check out my favorite shots from their day! xoxo
