Timeless Ankeny Iowa Wedding // Alex + Miranda 9.29.18

Alex and Miranda are THEEEE sweetest couple with the sweetest love story! They’ve been together since high school, and the love they share is so precious. I loved hanging out with them on their wedding day! The girls day started at the salon where they got prettied up before heading back to the hotel to get ready for the day. When I arrived, the girls were in matching robes and everybody was just doing finishing touches on makeup and having a good time— the laid back atmosphere was so nice! Miranda read a letter from her groom that her twin had put into a special book with other letters from people special to Miranda, and then Miranda gave a gift to her mom and Alex’s mom before it was time to get ready—she was so mindful of other people the whole day! With some help from her momma, Miranda got dressed, and HOLY MOLY she was gorgeous! Her dress was a stunning mermaid style dress with lace and sheer sleeves, and it was so perfect for her. After finishing up with all the buttons, Miranda had a first look with her bridesmaids and her dad and brother before driving off to see Alex!

The moment Alex turned around to look at her is a first look I will never forget. He had just read a letter from her and was excited to see her, but I don’t think he was prepared for how over the moon beautiful she was in her dress! (I mean, how could someone as naturally gorgeous as her manage to look even more beautiful than usual?! She could have been in a dirty drab dress and still been a stunner!). Miranda walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder, and as he turned around and saw her, he just started bawling! Theirs was the kind of first look every photographer dreams of! Helloooo sweet emotion :)

After spending time taking pictures of the two of them, we did bridal party photos and then drove to Ankeny First United Methodist Church for family photos before hiding away for the ceremony. Alex and Miranda’s friends and family made their way in to sit and wait for the ceremony to start. With a ceremony centered on faith and love, Alex and Miranda sealed their marriage with a kiss! Their guests then sent them off with bubbles before the bridal party hopped on a party bus to hang out and give the guests time to make their way to the reception.

The reception was so awesome! Alex and Miranda had paid such close attention to detail, the decorations were SO beautiful. Guests enjoyed popcorn and treats until the bridal party made their grand entrance. Toasts were shared, dinner was eaten, and everybody danced the night away. My favorite part of their reception—besides dinner, of course ;)— was the toasts. It was amazing to hear more about Alex and Miranda, from the time they were kids, to their history together, and feel all the love that their family has for them. It’s obvious they belong together, and I was so lucky to be there to witness it!
